Abstract
1,126,322. Fuelling reactors. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. 3 Jan., 1966 [8 Jan., 1965], No. 920/65. Heading G6C. A reactor is refuelled by a method such that at least in one horizontal layer in the core the fuel elements have the same age. As shown, the core comprises columns 1 . . . 5, &c. each column having a reflector block such as a 1 and fuel elements such as b 1 . . . e 1 , the refuelling method being such that new fuel elements are positioned in layer d, old fuel is discharged from layer b and the elements in layers c and e together with the original elements in layer d are rearranged in the layers b, c, e.
