Abstract

1,126,279. Cooling photo-printing apparatus. VAN DER GRINTEN N. V. July 19, 1966 [Aug. 2, 1965], No.32317/66. Heading G2A. The rotating glass cylinder 1 of a photo-printing apparatus is divided into equal halves by a flat plate 3, narrow gaps 4 being left between the cylinder and the long edges of the plate. In one half is mounted a tubular lamp 2, as centrally as possible. In the other half, a curved plate 6 is fixed to the flat plate 3, the curved plate having the shape of half an oblique cone, tapering from a maximum diameter at the right hand end and being completely closed at the other end. A row of holes 5 is distributed along the length of plate 3. Air is blown into the wide end of plate 6 by a fan 12, Fig. 2 (not shown), and is forced through the holes 5 to impinge on the inner surface of cylinder 1. It then escapes through the gaps 4 to the other side of plate 3, and through an outlet duct (13). Air may also be blown into the other half of cylinder 1 (containing the lamp) as well as into the duct, thus giving an increased turbulence, hence more even and efficient cooling.
