Abstract

1,126,016. Synthetic resin compositions. KAO SOAP CO. Ltd. 20 July, 1967, No. 33411/67. Heading C3P. Synthetic resins are rendered antistatic by incorporating therein a mixture of not more than 70 weight per cent of a dihydroxyethyl amine of formula R 1 N(C 2 H 4 OH) 2 and an aliphatic alcohol of formula R 2 OH, where R 1 and R 2 are alkyl or alkenyl groups containing 8 to 22 carbon atoms. Specified resins are polyethylene, polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride. Specified alkyl and alkenyl groups are capryl, decyl, lauryl, myristyl, cetyl, stearyl or oleyl. Examples describe compositions of polyethylene and (1) stearyl dihydroxyethylamine and stearyl alcohol, (2) lauryl dihydroxyethylamine and stearyl alcohol and (3) octyl, dodecyl or oleyl dihydroxyethylamine and octyl, decyl, dodecyl, hexadecyl or octadecyl alcohol; polypropylene and (4) stearyl dihydroxyethylamine and stearyl alcohol, and (5) polyvinyl chloride, dioctyl phthalate, lauryl dihydroxyethylamine and stearyl alcohol.
