Abstract
1,125,985. Modifying metallic surfaces. W. GLASER. June 21, 1967 [Sept. 1, 1966], No. 38963/66. Heading C7U. A metal e.g. steel surface is treated with a phosphoric acid ester together with a metal peroxide and Pb 3 O 4 . The ester may also include dimethyl phthalate or tricresyl phosphate. The mix may include MnO 2 , Fe 2 O 3 , Fe 3 O 4 , Fe 2 O 3 , H 2 O, TiO 2 , and lead and zinc chromate. Where anti-fouling is also required copper, copper oxides, mercury and mercuric oxides may be added. The film may be heated e. g. by frictional heat produced by rotating steel brushes.
