Abstract

1,125,596. Bobbin supporting means. R. K. WHITEHEAD SEN., R. K. WHITEHEAD JUN., A. C. WHITEHEAD, and H. C. WHITEHEAD. 16 Dec., 1965 [30 July, 1965], No. 53426/65. Heading D1J. In the bobbin holder shown in Fig. 1 the two bobbin supporting pawls 50 and 51 are pivotally supported by bosses 55 housed in recesses in a shell S in a manner preventing displacement of the bosses along the length of the shell. A wedge member C forces the pawls apart so that they engage under a shoulder 12 of a bobbin B. By raising a sleeve R, the wedge member C is forced to rise and cam rods (66, 68 Fig. 2 not shown) on the wedge member C rise up a track 69 and eventually settle in an island member 71 to hold the wedge member C in an elevated setting and so permit the supporting paws to close together. The empty bobbin B can then be removed. On pushing a full bobbin onto the shell S the sleeve R is raised and lowered to cause the cam rods (66, 68) to be lifted off the island 71 so that the wedge member C descends to push the pawls 50, 51 apart again.
