Abstract

1,125,387. Nuclear power plant. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G.m.b.H. 1 Dec., 1965 [3 Dec., 1964], No. 50973/65. Heading G6C. A by-pass control arrangement to prevent inadmissibly high fluctuations in steam throughput in steam power plant fed by nuclear reactors, particularly superheater reactors, comprises connecting the live steam line 10 and the condenser 14 by means of two by-pass lines 12, 13, the first by-pass line 12 being equipped with a quick-opening valve 4 and an auxiliary regulating valve 6, while the second by-pass line 13 can be opened or closed by a regulating valve 7. The arrangement is characterised in that (i) the quick-opening valve 4 is coupled through a release device 5 to a quick-acting cut-off valve 3 and opens simultaneously with the closing of the latter, (ii) independently of (i), the auxiliary regulating valve 6 which is coupled to a turbine regulating valve 1 is maintained in a position corresponding to the steam through-put depending on load, and (iii) on closing movement of the turbine regulating valve 1 independent of the out-off, the regulating valve 7 which is likewise coupled to the turbine regulating valve 1 opens by an equivalent amount and, after each opening movement, automatically closes again at an adjustable speed. The regulating valves 6, 7 are controlled directly by the turbine speed governor 2. So as not to cause any inadmissibly sharp rises in the steam through-put as a result of rapid opening movements of the turbine regulating valve 1, this may be equipped with a preliminary pressure limit regulator.
