Abstract

1,125,304. Tables. C. S. BROAD. 15 May, 1967 [22 June, 1966], No. 27834/66. Heading A4H. In an extendable table top having two main sections 3, 3 which are moved simultaneously by racks 26 and a pinion 15, a central section 4 is raised into the gap between the main sections by four levers 27 which are actuated by coiled springs 29 or by weights (not shown). The levers are pivoted about horizontal axes on the frame of the table and their inner ends engage under the corners of the central section. Pivoted metal tabs 31 on the central section can be set to project outwardly therefrom to abut the undersides of the main sections 3, 3 and thus align the central section with the main sections. The three sections have tongues 5, 8 and grooves 6, 7 which are slid into engagement; alternatively dowels and holes are provided. The main sections 3, 3 have grooved runners 16 which slide in guides formed by spaced inverted L-shaped members 22 secured to the frame. Locating blocks 34, 34 and bars 33, 33 prevent longitudinal displacement of the central section relative to the main sections.
