Abstract
1,124,990. Transistor circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 7 Dec., 1965, No. 51807/65. Heading H3T. [Also in Division G4] Complementary transistors T1, T2 have their emitters coupled together and the collector of T1 connected for D.C. to the base of T2 to form a regenerative loop, the base of T2 being connected to a reference potential and the base of T1 to a capacitor whereby, when the capacitor voltage exceeds the reference by a predetermined amount the transistors conduct. As shown the capacitor voltage may be clamped through D4 but if released may increase until the transistors conduct to discharge the capacitor and produce an output pulse. Repeated pulses will be produced in like manner if the constants are suitably chosen. Charging may be effected from a separate capacitor C7 which, when unclamped through D3 or D5, progressively charges or discharges to a b level through R10 as that the output pulse repetition frequency progressively increases or decreases. Clamping or alternatively gating of the input signal may be effected by a transistor instead of a diode and the basic circuit may be used as a pulse counter by stepwise charging the capacitor (Fig. 4, not shown).
