1,124,389. Calculating apparatus. A. KOUZOULIS. 17 March, 1967 [21 Nov., 1966], No. 51972/66. Heading G4B. An abacus is provided with one, two, three, and so on, beads c on consecutive wires b. Spacer plates d separate adjacent beads. A cross-bar e supports additional beads f. The beads c and f have a polygonal or circular crosssection. As shown, the beads have four sides and the beads c marked with two, three, four and five symbols on their respective sides. The series of beads f are marked 2, 4, ... 20; 3, 6, ... 30; 4, 8, ... 40; and 5, 10, ... 50 on their four sides whereby the abacus may be used for teaching multiplication.
