Abstract

1,122,897. Coating apparatus; spray producers. UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION, 27 Feb., 1967 [26 April, 1966], No. 9287/67. Headings B2F and B2L. Apparatus for applying fluid to the interior of an object comprises a rotatable shaft 10 having a longitudinal opening 22 extending from one end of the shaft to near the other and a side outlet communicating with said longitudinal opening, means for supplying fluid to said opening, a fluid gun 11 mounted on the shaft for rotation with the shaft and for longitudinal movement with respect to the shaft means 27 for connecting the gun 11 with the side outlet in the shaft and means for moving the gun 11 longitudinally of the shaft in response to rotation of the shaft. The gun may be on a carriage 28 mounted by rollers 30 on a square section extension 29 of shaft 10 and moved along by a bracket 43 secured to one side of sprocket chain loop 40 driven through gearing 37, 36, 34, 35, as the shaft 10 is rotated. Thus as shaft 10 is rotated the gun 11 has a spiral movement.
