Abstract

A high borate glass composition with good resistance to sodium and low absorption of argon has the following limits except for impurities in percentages by weight:B2O3 45-65; Al2O3 0-5; SiO2 0-10; MgO+CaO+BaO 10-20, at least two components being present; Na2O and/or K2O 10-30. Preferred limits are B2O3 55-62; Al2O3 1-5; SiO2 2-10; MgO 2-9; CaO 5-13; BaO 1-5; Na2O 10-20.
