Abstract

1,122,064. Gas turbine fuel systems. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Nov. 4, 1966 [Sept. 16, 1965], No.39526/65. Heading F1G. [Also in Division G3] The flow of fuel to the burners 18 of a gas turbine engine is controlled by a manually actuated throttle valve 28 having metering grooves 29 which regulate the flow of fuel from a supply pipe 17a to a pipe 17b. The valve 28 has a hollow spindle 42 connected to a piston 31. A manually adjustable pilot valve 41 is slidable in the piston and spindle and controls the flow of fluid from the left hand side of the piston to a drain line 47. The left hand side of the piston is connected to the upstream valve pressure through a conduit 33 which is provided with restrictions 34, 35, and the right hand side of the piston is connected to a reduced pressure between restrictions 37, 38 thus the valve 28 assumes a position in response to movement of the pilot valve where the piston is pressure balanced. The supply of fuel is from a pump 10 having a swash plate adjusted by a piston 12 in response to a temperature controlled valve 24 and an upstream and downstream engine compressor pressure controlled valve 22 in the usual manner. A manual shut-off valve 25 is provided in the fuel line.
