Abstract

A warp knitted fabric has a striped effect produced by incorporating a group of high bulk yarns between the needle wales of the base fabric in alternation with areas of needle wales devoid of the bulk yarns. The high bulk yarns are laid in over nine courses in between the needle wales and are then shogged across one needle wale to be laid in between the needle wale of adjacent pairs for a further nine courses whereafter they are shogged back again and the sequence repeated. A striped effect having contrasting translucent and opaque parts can thereby be achieved.
