Abstract

1,120,097. Writing telegraphs. MARCONI CO. Ltd. June 26, 1967 [Sept. 7, 1966], No.40056/66. Heading G1N. The co-ordinates of position of a probe P, Fig. 2, which is capacitively coupled through an insulating layer to a conductive surface carrying electrodes X1 X2, Y1, Y2, are obtained at 14, 16 by measuring respectively the amplitude ratio of the two components of the probe output signal having the frequencies f 1 , f 3 , which are the frequencies of voltage applied to electrodes X1 X2, and the amplitude ratio of the two components of the probe output signal having the frequencies f 2 , f 4 of voltages applied to the other electrodes, Y1, Y2. Each voltage is applied to one electrode of a pair via filters 1 and 2, 3 and 4, &c. which reject the two frequencies of the electrodes of the other pair. Tuned amplifiers 9, 10, 11 and 12 select each frequency respectively and apply them to two ratio measuring circuits 13, 15.
