Abstract

Halogen containing polymers, particularly PVC, are stabilized by the addition of (a) a zinc and/or cadmium carboxylate, (b) a tertiary phosphite ester, (c) an epoxidized cyclohexene compound or a glycidyl ether and (d) a polyhydric alcohol; there may also be present a hindered phenol, other epoxy compounds and other metal carboxylates. Many specific compounds of each type are named. The stabilizers are especially useful for unplasticized resins but an ester or phosphate ester plasticizer may be added.
