An exhaust after burner 10 comprises an elongated chamber into which project the perforated ends 14 of exhaust pipes 12, the chamber wall carrying an igniter 15. The perforations 14 in the pipes 12 project the exhaust gases transversely of the chamber 10. The igniter may be constructed as described in Specification 1,114,256.
