Abstract

1,116,600. Endless conveyers. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO. Ltd. 27 Aug., 1965 [15 Sept., 1964], No. 38279/64. Heading B8H. In an endless conveying system having abrupt changes in direction, two lengths of an endless chain 3 extend parallel to each other throughout the substantially horizontal conveying path, the distance apart of the lengths changing with each change in conveying direction such that the orientation of load carriers 12 pivotally attached to both lengths of chain, remain substantially constant throughout. In Fig. 1 the carriers and load are attached at a loading station 1 and move in the direction of arrows 15, 18 to an unloading station 2 where they are removed. The conveyer comprises a single endless chain 3 passing around sprockets 4 to 11. In the embodiment of Fig. 2 (not shown), two endless chains are used to form the parallel lengths. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 (not shown), two endless chains are used to form a figureeight shape, one pair of lengths of chain passing under another pair whereby loading and unloading can be carried out at any point in the circuit. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 (not shown), one loop of the figure-eight track of Fig. 3 (not shown), comprises a plurality of parallel U-shaped sections, thereby increasing the conveying distance.
