Abstract

An adhesive composition comprises (A) a copolymer of butadiene, styrene, and acrylonitrile, either random or graft; and (B) a mixture of solvents, (a) one solvent of which is a swelling agent for the polymer and slow to evaporate, and (b) another solvent which is a diluent for the polymer and has a rapid evaporation rate. Suitable solvents (a) are benzene and toluene and (b) methyl ethyl ketone and ethyl acetate. Other solvents including cyclohexanone can also be present. The composition may contain ketonic resins, mineral filler, plasticizers such as dioctyl phthalate and setting retardants such as dimethyl formamide.
