Abstract

1,116,183. Water detection. C.A.V. Ltd. Jan. 26,1966 [March 18,1965], No. 11477/65. Heading G1S. Apparatus for indicating the presence of water in a fuel system of an internal combustion engine having a transparent bowl 10 comprises a pellet 16 including a water soluble dye, which is substantially insoluble in the liquid fuel, the arrangement being such that any water entrained with the fuel will be tinted by the dye and thereby rendered visible from the exterior of the bowl. The pellet 16 may be placed either in the bowl 10 or in the fuel system upstream of the bowl. The pellet is formed by the dye and anacrylic moulding- powder.
