Abstract

1,115,309. Typewriters &c. CREED & CO. Ltd. (Standard Elektrik Lorenz A.G.). 25 Nov., 1966, No. 52923/66. Heading B6F. A spherical type-carrier has characters evenly distributed over its entire surface and comprises two hemispherical shells 1, 2 rigidly connected together through a shaft 5 and which rotate about a first axis A-A on either side of an equatorial disc 3 which itself pivots about a second axis B-B in a bearing yoke 8 pivotal within certain limits about a third axis C-C. The characters are in six type-character areas correspondng to the surfaces of an imaginary cube and the characters are arranged in rows in alignment with great circles inter - secting on the axis B-B. Four of the six areas are bisected by the equatorial disc 3. Rotation about the first axis A-A is effected by a cable 4d attached to a spring-biased arm 6 fixed to the shaft 5 carrying the two hemispheres. A cable 4b effects rotation of the disc 3 about axis B-B and a further cable 9b effects rotation of the yoke 8 about axis C-C.
