Abstract

1,114,940. Variable capacitor. A. A. SOKOLOV and B. T. KANUNNIKOV. 17 Dec., 1965, No. 53595/65. Heading H1M. In the variable capacitor shown, turning knob 4 causes rotation of conducting member 3 to vary the overlap between recessed portion A, B in the movable electrode 1 and the stationary electrode formed by a metallized segment on the opposite side of dielectric disc 5. Electrode 1 is pressed against the disc by a star-shaped spring 2 fitting into grooves in its opposite surface. Disc 5 is fixed relative to conductive chassis 7 by a resilient spacer 6, Chassis 7 has lugs for mounting the capacitor and/or to act as terminals since it is in electrical contact with shaft 3 and thereby with electrode 1. Lead 9 is connected to the stationary electrode. A number of capacitors having a common terminal may be obtained by metallizing several areas of the dielectric disc and having additional recesses in electrode 1.
