A bogie comprises spaced side frames 2, Fig. 2, supported upon three wheel and axle assemblies 3, 4, 6, each side frame 2 including only two side frame sections 7, 8 having their adjacent inner ends interconnected at 16, 40, 29, for relative pivotal movement and supported on a journal box 33 of the assembly 4, the section 8 having at its inner end a pair of spread vertical walls 28 connected at their lower ends by a horizontal wall (at about the level of ribs 60) carrying an arcuate bearing block 40 which receives a pivot head 16 on the inner end of the section 7. The head 16 is secured to the walls 28 by a bolt 29 and has an arcuate outer surface engaging a complementary surface of the block 40. The outer end of the section 7 has pedestal jaws 18, 19 to engage a journal box 21 of the assembly 3 whereas the ends of the section 8 have pedestal jaws 36, 37 and 32, 32 to engage journal boxes 38 and 33 of the assemblies 6, 4. Windows 14, 27 in the sections 7, 8 house springs 49 supporting feet 48 on the ends of outwardly-diverging legs 46 of a bolster 42. The feet are provided with pockets to receive friction wedges in known manner. In another embodiment described witb reference to Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown), the sections (7), (8), are provided with brake beam supports. According to other modifications the pivot connections between the side frame sections have complementary wear blocks and wear bearings having part-spherical surfaces, or the head (16c) is flat and engages a resilient rubber pad (76).
