Abstract

1,113,945. Belt gearing. PNEUMATIQUES CAOUTCHOUC MANUFACTURE ET PLASTIQUES KLEBER-COLOMBES. 15 June, 1965 [15 June, 1964], No. 25350/65. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division B5] A toothed belt is made by winding a wire or textile reinforcing element 7 on a cylindrical inner core of a mould and then pouring or injecting a material which solidifies by cooling or polymerizes under the action of heat into the mould, the inner core is removed after the material has solidified and replaced by a smaller core 13 whereafter an additional layer of material is moulded to the other side of the reinforcing element. As shown the outer mould 9 is toothed. In Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown) a cylindrical layer of material is moulded on to the reinforcing element and then the inner cylindrical core (15) is removed and replaced by a smaller toothed core (17) to mould the toothed section of the belt on to the other side of the reinforcing element. The material may be a polyvinyl-chloride, polyamide, polyester, polysulphide, polyether or an elastomer. When the belt is removed from the mould it is cut to the desired width. The reinforcing element 7 may be pre-treated to ensure adhesion between the element 7 and the moulded substance.
