Abstract

A urea melt containing 10-20% of water is mixed with 1-4% of a quaternary ammonium compound of Formula [(CH3)3RN]+ X - (wherein R is ethyl, vinyl, allyl, bromomethyl, 2-chloroethyl, 2 - bromoethyl, or 2 - bromo - n-propyl and X is chlorine or bromine) and 1-5% of a herbicide and prilled. The preferred quaternary ammonium compound is chlorocholine chloride. Preferred herbicides are 2,4-D; McPA; McPP; McPB; and 2,4,5-T.ALSO:A granular mixture effective as a herbicidal and as a fertilizer is obtained by mixing a salt of a non-phytotoxic acid with a quaternary ammonium base of formula [(CH3)3 NR]+ OH- (in which R is ethyl, vinyl, alkyl or C1 to C3 halogen-substituted hydrocarbon), a herbicide which acts by regulating growth, and a urea melt containing 10 to 20% water, homogenizing the mixture, and then prilling. Preferred herbicides are 2.4-D; MCPA; MCPP; MCPB; and 2,4,5-T. The preferred quaternary ammonium base is chlorocholine chloride.
