An endless scraper conveyer comprises an enclosed trough 13 and a plurality of transverse longitudinally spaced scrapers 14 supported at each side thereof by one of a pair of endless drive chains 15 running in a recess at each side of the trough. The recesses are formed between outwardly extending flanges 25 of the trough casing 13a, 13b, the main surface 26 and an end plate 27 extending therebetween and having mounted thereon a guideway 28 to support and guide the endless chains. The scrapers may be U shaped, H shaped or open rectangular construction as shown and are arranged to sweep substantially the whole of the crosssectional area of the troughs. The scrapers are attached to the endless chains 15 by bevelled plates 33 welded or integral therewith. The plates have a hole 34 to engage an extension 35 of the pivot pin 36 of the chain links 17 and a slot 37 through which a headed pin 38 extends to engage the body of the link 17. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 8 (not shown), the pin 38 is headless and the extension 35 has a threaded end, whereby the plate 33 may be retained by a nut 40. The conveyer is arranged with a horizontal portion 10 with a return sprocket 19 and a material inlet 18, an inclined portion 12 with a drive sprocket 21 and an outlet 23 and a curved portion 11 joining the horizontal and inclined portions together. The upper and lower runs of the conveyer are spaced apart in the horizontal portion 11, but merged in the curved portion 17 to have a common dividing wall 31 which extends throughout the inclined portion 12. A wear resistant covering 29, e.g. hardened manganese steel, is attached to those parts of the guideway 28 on which the chains 15 run.
