Abstract

Flexible polyurethane foams are prepared by reacting a polyether polyol with a toluenediisocyanate composition which contains 3-15 wt. per cent undistillate tar (obtainable by phosgenation of toluenediamine 2,4- and 2,6-isomers), the diisocyanate component comprising the 2,4- and 2,6- isomers in a wt. ratio of 70-75:30-25.ALSO:The invention comprises a toluenediisocyanate composition which contains 3-15 wt. per cent undistillable tar (obtainable by phosgenation of toluenediamine 2,4- and 2,6-isomers), the diisocyanate component comprising the 2,4- and 2,6-isomers in a wt. ratio of 70-75:30-25. The composition is made by adjusting the proportions of diisocyanate isomers and/or tar content in the phosgenation product.
