Abstract

Glazed tiles are made by biscuit-firing tiles, interrupting the firing at its highest temperature, and applying glaze to the tiles at this temperature; the tiles are immediately fired to glaze them. The glaze may be applied by dusting or dropping a dry powdered frit, which may be preheated, on the tiles, which may be supported on a ladder-like arrangement of small refractory tubes of low heat conductivity.
