1,112,504. Propulsion unit for aquatic toys. TOKYO KAGAKU KABUSHIKI KAISHA. 28 Nov., 1966 [22 Dec., 1965], No. 53123/66. Heading A6S. In a propulsion unit for aquatic toys comprising a battery and an electric motor in a water-tight cylindrical plastics casing, the casing is made in two parts, relative rotation of which switches the motor on and off. In one embodiment, the cap 2 containing the battery 18 screws on to the casing 1 which houses the electric motor 8 and supports the propellor 10 and rudder 11... One pole of the motor 8 is connected to a conductive cylinder 22 which maintains sliding contact with resilient plate 23 connected via spring 24 to the negative pole of the battery. The positive contacts 19, 21 are closed when the cap 2 is screwed forwards. In a modification (not shown) in which the threaded connection is replaced by an annular rib on the casing resiliently engaging a groove in the cap, the positive contacts are permanently closed and the conductive cylinder 22 is replaced by a plate which makes contact with the resilient plate 23 on rotation of the cap relative to the casing. The unit may be attached to the toy by a dove-tail plate, adhesive, magnet or suction disc.
