Abstract

1,112,400. Load-handling pallets. NOSCO PLASTICS Inc. 6 Dec., 1966, No. 54549/66. Heading B8H. A plastic pallet as shown in Figs. 1, 2, 8 and 10, comprises work-supporting elements in the form of upper and lower lattices 1, 2, each comprising intersecting longitudinal and crossribs 3, 4 edgewise to the load-supporting surface and united or integral with each other at their intersections. Fork entry openings 5 are provided on all four sides. The pallet is made of four identical plastic moulded parts. Two of the parts are assembled in juxtaposition, Fig. 8, with tabs 8, 9 'carrying projections 11 assembled into sockets 17, Fig. 10, to lock the parts together to form one or other of the elements 1 or 2. The elements 1, 2 are assembed back-to-back and are spaced apart by projections 19 equipped with fastening elements (11), (17), Fig. 5 (not shown), to lock them together. Snap-fastenings are preferred for joining the parts (permitting disassembly) but the parts may be permanently joined by riveting, welding or adhesives. In the modification shown in Figs. 13 and 14, the pallet has upper and lower surfaces 26, 27, each comprising a grid of intersecting longitudinal and cross-ribs 28, 29 presented edgewise to the surfaces 26, 27 which are bordered by flanges 30, 31. The pallet is made of two identical plastic parts assembled by inverting one part and connecting it in side-byside relation to the other part through flanges 37, 38. Beads 40, 42 of fusible plastic such as a mixture of plastic and metallic particles which can be heated by induction -heating are used to assemble the parts. Other fastenings may be used. In the further modification shown as a bottom perspective in Fig. 15 the upper-surface (not shown) is the same grid of ribs as shown in Fig. 1. This pallet is made in three parts: two grids 49 and a single large piece comprising the balance of the pallet. -Alternatively, the pallet may be made in several pieces integrally joined or connected together.
