Abstract

1,112,098. Telegraphy. SIEMENS A.G. 27 July, 1966 [28 July, 1965], No. 33765/66. Heading H4P. In a teleprinter exchange of the type in which each bit marks a combination of channels in a multichannel line SV to which all subscribers are connected, the combination being unique to the called subscriber, the subscriber transmitters are in groups and are multiplexed on to the line. As shown there are two groups comprising units KS1-KS62 and KS63-KS125. When a call-up pulse on line AL reaches the last stage of either group it sends a pulse on line FL1 or FL2 to all stages in the other group so that a bit from any subscriber in that group is stored on the corresponding store NAS. If, for example, KS1 receives a bit gate a is enabled and the next call-up pulse passes through gate a to read out the bit stored in NAS and to transmit the bit on a combination of channels SV. This transmission causes AI to generate a call-up pulse which passes to the next stage. If KS2 has no bit in NAS gate u is enabled and the call-up pulse passes to the next stage KS3, and so on. The data from the subscribers are thus multiplexed on the line, the cycle time depending upon the number of subscribers who are transmitting. When the call-up pulse leaves KS62 data is read in to the stores of the other group and transmission proceeds as before.
