Abstract

1,111,993. Resilient mountings. SARGENTS INSULATIONS Ltd. 3 March, 1966 [22 April, 1965], No. 17016/65. Heading F2S. In resilient mounting, e.g. for isolating parts of machinery from their supports, and comprising upper and lower telescopic box-like members 2, 4 with spring means 7 acting between them and having respectively inturned and out-turned peripheral flanges 3, 5, the overall dimensions of the flange 3 are smaller than the corresponding inner dimensions of the flange 5 so that the member 2 can be easily introduced into the member 4, the members 2, 4 being retained against dis-assembly by means of packing strips 6 which are interposed between the flanges 3, 5. The strips 6 are made of stiff woven graphite-impregnated wire-asbestos material and are inserted in position through cutaway portions 4a disposed at diagonally opposite corners of the member 4. A number of coil springs 7 are disposed between the base of the member 2 and a rimmed load distributing-plate 8, a threaded bush 9 being attached to the underside of the member 4 to receive a fixing bolt 10 which carries a locking-nut 11. The member 2 is secured to a base-plate 1. The springs 7 may be pre-tensioned by screwing the bolt 10 into the nut 9.
