Abstract
Mortar or concrete compositions based on an hydraulic binder, e.g. Portland cement, contain an aqueous dispersion of a copolymer of 60-90 parts styrene and 40-10 parts acrylonitrile. The copolymer preferably contains 0.1-5% by weight copolymerized acrylic acid. The dispersion may also contain 2-9% by weight of an anionic emulsifier, based on the polymer solids, a non-ionic emulsifier such as an ethenoxylated alkl phenol, and a defoaming agent such as a mixture of trioleyl phosphate with an oleylamine-ethylene oxide condensate. The solids content may be 40-45% by weight and particle size 0.05-0.3m , and the dispersion may be added to the hydraulic binder in an amount 0.5-5% by weight calculated as solids content on the binder weight.
