In a longwall mineral-mining installation in which two mining machines are hauled at different rates by independent haulages along the top and side respectively of a conveyer extending along a face to be mined each machine is provided with magnetic switch elements, the element co-operating during the immediate approach of and retreat of the machines to operate control circuits to cause adjustment of the operating conditions of one or both machines so that they may pass each other in moving along the conveyer without mutual hinderance occurring.
