Abstract

110,910. Barbet et fils et Cie, E. Oct. 31, 1916, [Convention date]. Addition to 105,549. Rectifiers.-Relates to rectifying-columns comprising cooling-coils J and perforated plates G as described in the parent Specification. The invention consists in forming the basin A with a flat outer rim, the concavity only beginning at a distance from the edge of the plate, and in forming the perforated plate G as an annulus extending from the hood F to the outer edge of the concavity. The perforated plate G may be horizontal, Fig. 2, or dished, Fig. 3. In order to allow the liquid contained in the basin to be forced to the top of the perforated plate G by the vapours at the beginning of the operation, larger orifices H. Fig. 2, are provided in the plate G, or the plate G is spaced above the concavity as shown in Fig. 3. The liquid is prevented from passing from the inlet E to the outlet C without flowing over the perforated plate by means of vertical baffles situated on the flat outer rim of the basin A. The specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) also states that the cooling-coils may be omitted. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
