Abstract
1,108,618. Controlling clutches; ratchet gearing. UPRIGHT PRODUCTS Ltd. 26 May, 1966 [1 June, 1965], No. 23628/66. Headings F2L and F2Q. [Also in Division B3] Energization of a solenoid 89, Fig. 21, by a micro-switch actuated by cam means, Fig. 42 (not shown), rocks a lever 86, 85 to move a continuously rotating clutch plate 82 into engagement with a clutch plate 81 secured-on a shaft 9, a block 91 on the plate 82 engaging a channel in the plate 81. The clutch is disengaged after one revolution by the engagement of a wedge-shaped extension 92 of the block 91 with a spring urged pivoted clutch release member 93, the solenoid 89 having been deenergized. A spring-loaded plunger 96 engages a dimple 97 in the plate 81 to prevent freewheeling of the shaft 9 after disengagement of the clutch. A ratchet wheel 112, Fig. 34, driving a chain 107 is rotated by a pawl 114 on a pivoted lever 115 rocked to and fro by a cam 118 on a continuously rotated shaft 16. After a predetermined rotation of the ratchet 112, a solenoid 121 on the lever 115 is de-energized, and the pawl 114 is retracted so that it does not contact the ratchet 112 as the lever 115 rocks. The solenoid 121 is energized by a micro-switch actuated by cam means, Fig. 42 (not shown), and also by a push button.
