Abstract
A catalyst containing Pd and possibly Cu, Ag, Au, Ru, Rh, Os, Ir or Pt supported on SiO2 which has been deactivated in the manufacture of vinyl acetate is regenerated by washing with 1-25% NH4OH followed by water, impregnating with 1-30% alkali metal acetate solution and drying at 50-70 DEG C under reduced pressure. The regenerating of Au and Pd supported on SiO2 which has become deactivated with use is exemplified.
