Abstract

1,106,750. Laminate. PRESSAC Ltd. 15 Dec., 1966 [22 Dec., 1965], No. 54308/65. Heading B5N. [Also in Division H1] A printed circuit or similar laminate is made by feeding metal foil 3 from a reel 6 and backing material 4 from a reel 5, together beneath a foil-cutting die 2 in the form of a roller having cutting edges 2a and being rotatable about a fixed axis. A flat-bed reciprocatory support 1 moves horizontally to exert pressure between the roller 2 and the foil 3 to effect the cutting operation, and then returns in a non-operative excursion. One or both of the opposed surfaces of foil 3 and material 4 is/are coated with an adhesive to effect bonding of the cut-out foil pattern to the backing material, or a separate adhesive film (not shown) is fed between them. After the cutting operation, the waste foil 3a is lifted and reeled at 3b, while the completed laminate is reeled at 7. If the backing material is rigid, it is fed in sheets beneath the die together with adhesive-coated foil.
