Abstract

The invention comprises ureas of the formula <FORM:1106523/C3/1> and biurets of the formula <FORM:1106523/C3/2> where R, R1, R11 are monovalent hydrocarbon radicals, with the proviso that when R1 is a monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon radical it may have an inert substituent thereon. They may be prepared by reacting an organic isocyanate of formula R1NCO with a triorganosilylated amine of formula R11N(SiR3)2. Typical isocyanates include ethyl, phenyl, toluene, a -naphthalene, p-phenoxyphenyl isocyanates and p-isocyanato-diphenylmethane. Typical disilylated amines are N,N-bis-(trimethylsilyl) aminoethane, N,N - bis - (triphenylsilyl) aminoethane, N,N - bis - (trimethylsilyl) aniline, N,N - bis - (trimethylsilyl) - p - aminodiphenyl, N,N - bis - (triethylsilyl) aminobutane, and N,N - bis (trimethylsilyl) aminopropane. The examples prepare: (2) [C6H5(SiMe3)N]2CO, (3) Me(SiMe3).N.CO.N.(SiMe3).C6H5, (4) [Me(Me3Si).N]2CO and [Me(SiMe3)N.CO]2N.Me, and (5) [C6H5.(SiMe3)N.CO]2N.Me. Uses.-Lubricants and hydraulic transmission media, hypnotics, anti-convulsants, leather and paper treatment, pesticides, insecticides and miticides.ALSO:Lubricants and hydraulic transmission media comprise ureido compounds of formula <FORM:1106523/C4-C5/1> or <FORM:1106523/C4-C5/2> where R, R1, R11 are monovalent hydrocarbon radicals. R1 may also have an inert substituent thereon. R, R1, R11 may be alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkaryl, cycloaliphatic, or unsaturated acyclic aliphatic. The examples prepare (2) [C6H5(SiMe3)N]2CO, (3) Me(SiMe3).N.CO.N(SiMe3).C6H5, (4) [Me.(Me3Si)N]2CO and [Me(SiMe3) NCO]2NMe, and (5) [C6H5(SiMe3)NCO]2 -N.Me.ALSO:Biurets of formula R1.NH.CO.NR11.CO.NHR111 or R1NHCO.NR11CO.NHR1 are prepared by hydrolysing the disilylated compounds R1N(SiR3).CO.N(R11)CO.N(SiR3)R111 or R1N(SiR3).CO.N(R11)CO.N(SiR3)R1 where R, R1, R11, R111 are monovalent hydrocarbon radicals, in which R1 may be substituted by an inert substituent.ALSO:Pesticidal, bacteriocidal, insecticidal and miticidal compositions containing, in addition to one or more inert carriers, a silylated ureido compound of formula:- <FORM:1106523/A5-A6/1> or <FORM:1106523/A5-A6/2> where R, R1 and R11 are monovalent hydrocarbon radicals.
