Abstract

110,639. Hough, J. F. Nov. 24, 1916. Hand driving-mechanism.-In a hand-driven tricycle for invalids &c., the two front driving- wheels 9 are mounted in vertical forks 7 only, and a main backbone 1 extending upwards towards the rear is secured to the head 2 of the rear-wheel fork and connected by one transverse rail 6 to the inner members of the front forks and by a second transverse rail 13 to the rear ends of curved members 12 passing round the front wheels to the heads of their forks. The lower ends of the front forks are connected by a detachable bar, and the seat is mounted on front and rear cross-bars 19, 18, the front bar being supported from the backbone and the rear bar upon the extremity of a neck-tube 8 reinforcing the back portion of the backbone. In addition to the usual steering means by the back-rest, a handle may be pivoted to a bracket on the rear transverse stay and linked to an arm on the rear fork.
