The subject matter of this Specification is substantially the same as that disclosed in the Specification 1, 032, 563 except that the cell includes means for preventing overheating of the film due to its hygroscopic action. As shown in Fig. 1, ducts 11, 12 may be provided for a coolant. Alternatively, the annular gas passage may be so dimensioned that only a minor portion of the gas flowing therethrough diffuses on to the film or the area of the film may be limited so that the electrolysis current between the electrodes is a function of the area of the film, whereby overheating may be prevented. Rhodium electrodes may be used for measuring the humidity of hydrogen.
