Abstract

1,105,683. Hydrostatic transmissions. ANDERSON MAVOR Ltd. 27 Oct., 1966 [2 Nov., 1965], No. 46316/65. Heading F2D. An hydrostatic transmission for a mineral mining machine includes a fluid pressure operated plunger device which in the event of loss of pressure in the system operates to move the selector valve to the neutral position. In the closed circuit system shown an electric motor 2 drives main and primary pumps 1, 3, the flow to a motor 8 being controlled by a selector valve 9 operated by a hand lever 10 with which is associated a spring-loaded plunger 13 in a cylinder 12 connected to the primary pump line 6 and exhausting through a bleed valve 30. With normal working the pressure in the system overcomes plunger spring 14 and the end 31 of the plunger is held clear of lever 10, but in the event of loss of pressure spring 14 moves member 31 into contact with the lever 10 which is rotated into and held in the neutral position. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the valve 9 includes a biasing spring (32) and a spring rocker arm (36) is mounted between the plunger and selector lever. In a further modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the plunger is operated by pilot valves (23, 25) connected between the flow and return lines 4, 5.
