Abstract

1,105,549. Sealed primary cells. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. 13 May, 1965 [June 3, 1964], No. 20161/65. Heading H1B. A sealed primary cell having a cathode of silver oxide and a cathode of zinc or of lithium and employing a gelled alkaline electrolyte, has an addition of chromium in contact with the container. This is said to increase the shelf life of the cell. The chromium may be present as a coating on the container or as an alloy or a compound and may be in an electrode or in the electrolyte.
