Abstract
Absorbent liquor containing dissolved acidic gases, e.g CO2, H2S, is regenerated by stripping with steam; the liquor is then passed into a reboiler (18) and evolves steam which is used for stripping; the heating medium in reboiler (18) is steam which is thereby condensed and passed to another reboiler (10) where it is heated by a hot fluid and evolves steam which is recycled to reboiler (18). The fluid used in (10) may be passed, optionally with additional hot fluid, into a third reboiler (33) to heat another portion of regenerated liquor which also evolves steam, and the steam is recycled for stripping. The fluid may be the gases leaving the CO conversion step after partial oxidation or steam reformation of hydrocarbons, which are subsequently scrubbed with the regenerated liquor. The acidic gases from the regenerator (2) pass to air cooler (25) and the mixture of cooled gases and condensed steam is separated (at 27), the latter being returned to the top of the regenerator. Unevaporated liquor from reboilers 18 and 33 is returned to the bottom of the regenerator. Weirs are provided in the reboilers to ensure the liquid covers the heating tubes. The absorbent liquor may be aqueous monoethanolamine or K2CO3.ALSO:Absorbent liquor containing dissolved acidic gases, e.g CO2, H2S, is regenerated by stripping with steam; the liquor is then passed into a reboiler (18) and evolves steam which is used for stripping; the heating medium in reboiler (18) is steam which is thereby condensed and passed to another reboiler (10) where it is heated by a hot fluid and evolves steam which is recycled to reboiler (18).
