Abstract

1,105,109. Stamping. BUDD CO. 31 Aug., 1966 [31 Aug., 1965], No. 38903/66. Heading B3Q. A press, e.g. for pressing brake-drum backplates, comprises a lower platen 11 and a die 12, an upper part with a movable head 13 and die 14, an ejector (not shown) for holding a formed workpiece on its up-stroke and ejecting at or near the top of the stroke, and unloading apparatus comprising a tray 16 movable between the dies, and mechanism between the head 13 and tray 16 for moving the tray under the upper die when the head is raised and withdrawing it when the head moves downward, the mechanism comprising a first link 55 connecting the head to a first pivoted arm 53 which turns about a stationary axis 47, and a second arm 45 mounted to pivot with the first arm 53 about axis 47 and connected by a second link 42 to a third arm 33 which turns about a second stationary axis 34 and is connected to a fourth arm 30 connected to the tray. The tray has a front flange 24 for pulling a workpiece if necessary, and strengthening ribbing 23. Beneath the tray is a slide conveyer or shoot (26), Fig. 2 (not shown), or a travelling box container. The tray is guided by rollers 18 which run in tracks 19. An identical linkage is arranged on each side of the tray, adjustment being provided by varying the length of the second links 42 and by alternative attachment points 60 for the first links 55.
