Abstract

1,104,585. Draw-over vaporizer. BLEASE ANAESTHETIC EQUIPMENT Ltd. 29 Dec., 1965, No. 55086/65. Heading A5T. A vaporizer of the draw-over kind comprises a chamber 10 for an anaesthetic or analgesic agent 12 having an outlet valve 26 connecting the chamber to a by-pass passage 30 through which gas can pass to the patient without contacting the agent, and a by-pass valve 28 located in the by-pass passage and manually adjustable (via knob 44 and mechanism 42, 40, 38, 36) to vary the concentration of the agent in the gas/vapour mixture to be passed to the patient, the outlet valve being linked to a temperature-sensitive unit 56 within the vaporizer so that the escape of vapour-gas mixture into the by-pass is controlled in response to the temperature variation within the vaporizer, and the unit 56 being in the form of a variable-volume chamber having a rod 58 secured to one of its walls 60, the position of the rod being thereby determined in accordance with the temperature sensed by the unit.
