Abstract

[Also in Division E2] A mounting block for attaching a channelshaped moulding strip 24 having inwardly directed flanges 26 to a support 22, is formed of polymeric material which is rigid at normal ambient temperature but which is activatable by application of a solvent to its surface to render said surface sufficiently tacky to firmly adhere to the support when pressed thereon, the block having a base surface 10 adapted to be activated so as to be capable of adhering to the support and two opposed side wall surfaces extending longitudinally of opposed side edges of the base surface, a recess extending longitudinally of the respective side wall surfaces and adapted to receive the respective flanges of the moulding strip when the latter is assembled to the block. As shown each side wall surface has a diverging portion 12 and a converging portion 14 defining an outwardly projecting shoulder 16 over which a flange of the moulding strip is adapted to be snapped so as to extend into the recess which is defined by the shoulder and a further flange 20 integral with the block and extending laterally of the base surface thereof; in a modification the flanges 20 are omitted and the recesses are channels extending longitudinally of the side wall surfaces. The block is attached to the support either by applying volatile solvent to the base surface or by applying the solvent to the support.
