Abstract
1,103,598. D to A converter. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 19 July, 1965 [5 Aug., 1964], No. 31734/64. Heading G4. The converter comprises a voltage generator for each digit, and includes at least one zero voltage generator, the output impedance presented by each generator is the same, and switches connect the same number of generators in parallel for each digital input combination, whereby the output impedance of the converter is constant. The generators comprise voltage dividers connected across a constant voltage source, with the tapping points being connected to one output terminal through respective switches, and the zero and maximum voltage generators being single resistors connected to the same output terminal through respective switches at one end and to the low and high sides of the source respectively at the other end. Converters for 2 out of 5 code, and natural binary code are described. The natural binary converter comprises a set of zero voltage generators which are switched across the output teminals to provide an output impedance corresponding to the number of zeros in the digital input.
