Abstract

1,103,235. Tank assembly for breathing apparatus. AGA AKTIEBOLAG. 31 Oct., 1966 [23 Dec., 1965], No. 48610/66. Heading AST. In a portable tank assembly for breathing apparatus comprising a pair of pressure gas tanks arranged with their necks adjacent each other thereby to form a unitary assembly which is provided with a connecting unit for interconnecting the tanks, a bracket is attached around the lower part of the neck of each tank and surrounds both the connecting unit and the upper part of the neck of each tank. In the assembly illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, in which cylindrical tanks 1 and 2 are held firmly together by bands 3 and 4 and co-operating tensioning members 5 and 6 situated between the tanks, the bracket comprises a pair of parallel shanks 7 and 8 interconnected by a cross-piece 9, one shank being mounted on the neck of each of the tanks. A connecting unit 10 is mounted on one of the tanks and is coupled to the other tank by a tube 11 which is arranged parallel to the shanks and to the interconnecting cross-piece. A shut-off valve, which is controllable by wheel 12, is mounted on the connecting unit which has a coupling member 13 facing towards the interior of the bracket for connection to a coupling unit forming part of a breathing apparatus, which apparatus may comprise a pressure-reducing valve, optionally a release member for supplementary air, and one or more breathing masks. The tank assembly is intended to be placed on the back of the wearer.
