Abstract

1,103,229. Controlling burners. G. KROMSCHRODER A.G. 20 July, 1966 [20 July, 1965], No. 32531/66. Heading F4T. Burner control apparatus comprises control contact 32, control elements actuated in accordance with a prescribed sequence, a lockout device S, a monitoring relay A having an exciter winding in series with the control element contacts and which is de-energized as a result of a deviation from the prescribed sequence, and wherein a change-over contact A<SP>1</SP> of the monitoring relay A and a changeover contact E 1 of a time relay E are supplied with current through contact 32 and arranged in series with lock-out device S which is supplied with current direct from the main when either relay A or relay E is energized. The change-over contact E 1 effects change-over from an ignition fuel supply valve 41 and its ignition transformer 43 to a main fuel supply valve 42. The time relay E is disconnected after a 60 second purge period and is then energized for a further safety period by means of a capacitor 39 in parallel. A second time relay F on expiration of the purge period is energized by a previously charged capacitor 40 for a period longer than the safety period, and after the first time relay E has cut-out is energized through contact E 4 . F 1 is then changed-over and provides a circuit to valves 41, 42 and transformer 43, which is completed after relay A cuts in via F 2 and F 3 . E 2 passes current to only valve 41 and transformer 43 until changeover contact A 1 completes the circuit to valve 42. A flame monitor 35 senses a flame and a relay operator to interrupt the circuit to the transformer. If no flame is established within the safety period the relay F is cut-out and safety relay S is put into circuit.
