Abstract

1,103,095. Suitcases. A. KAPLAN. 24 Sept., 1965 [6 April, 1965], No. 40730/65. Heading B8P. [Also in Division A4] A luggage case which may have rigid or soft sides comprises two concave shells hingedly secured to each other and multi-sectioned male and female frame members 100 secured e.g. by crimping, to the peripheral edges of the shells, the frame member including straight sections secured to said edges intermediate the corners and rigid right angle sections 150, 180 secured at the corner edge to opposed ends of the straight sections to be contiguous therewith and form therewith a continuous frame member. The comer members have tongues 160, 162, 186, 188 which engage with grooves in the extruded straight members and are secured by crimping, welding or adhesive. A fabric lining and backing is secured by adhesive to the female frame and by plastic clips to the male frame.
